What happens to your photo?
Uploading your face to a website is a reasonable thing to be cautious about. So here is a straight answer: Dollganger uses your photo to find matches and then throws it away. Nothing is stored.
Processed in memory, then gone
When you start a search, your image is held only in the server's working memory (RAM) for the few seconds it takes to analyse it. Once your results are ready, that memory is released and the photo is gone. It is never written to disk and never saved in a database.
What about the "face signature"?
To compare faces, Dollganger converts your photo into a list of numbers — a face signature (see How AI face matching works). That signature exists only for your single search, is used to rank the database, and is then discarded along with the photo. We don't store it against your name, your device, or anything else.
What we do process
To run the service at all, a few technical details are handled:
- Standard server logs (such as your IP address and the time of the request), for security and reliability.
- Your approximate region, derived from your IP, so we can show you relevant regional shop links.
- A small language and age-confirmation setting saved in your own browser — not on our servers.
We don't sell your data, and we don't use tracking cookies. The full detail is in our Privacy Policy.
Tips for staying in control
- Use a photo you're comfortable uploading — a clear, front-facing portrait also gives the best results.
- You're always in control: if you don't start a search, nothing is analysed.
- Questions about your data? Email us any time — the address is in the Imprint.
